BACK to SCHOOL

Kenley started SCHOOL, twice...

we chose to do Virtual this year and due to COVID the school date got pushed back by a week (August 19th), and then the Virtual Program got pushed back by another week (August 24th)

Put together a little "Back to School" basket with goodies...

After her first day of school, we had to go pick up books from the school...

So since we had to be out and about I decided to throw a little sweetness into the day, too!

Stopped by a little bakery and got her a cupcake to celebrate FIFTH Grade...

Daughter Day ♡

Happy DAUGHTER Day!

It's actually 'Sons and Daughters Day' today,

but since I have no son... unless we count the cat, it's Daughter Day!

To my daughter... I am so grateful and thankful that God gave me you.

I always wanted a girl, and I still remember the day when I found out if you were a girl or a boy... I was so nervous. When the doctor told me what my heart already knew I was so happy.

You are the daughter I always dreamt of having and you make my job of being your Momma so easy.  Not only are you a fun and funny girl, but you also have the kindest soul and the biggest heart, which makes you both beautiful on the outside and the inside.

I love creating memories with you and most of all I love being your Momma!

AUGUST ♡

I cannot believe it's already AUGUST!

Summer is going by too fast and needs to slow down. We are not ready to go back to school. We want more summer, especially since this one has been robbed due to COVID and everything has been very limited or completely shut down. Ugh!

Made my favorites from July (pictures) and also decided to make a 'Photo A Day' challenge, too. Let's see if I can actually complete this one... pretty sure I've never completed any of these things, ever.

{Friday Night MOVIE Night} ♡

For tonight's FNMN, we picked a classic...

TROOP BEVERLY HILLS!

This wasn't our first time watching this, and we actually own the DVD too, but we hadn't watched it in a while and when we saw it was coming on we had to. Movies from the 80's were just so much better.

11 years today, I lost someone very special.

Every year on this day I try to celebrate HIM and his life.

This morning I put on my Van Halen vinyl and listened to his absolute favorite song, and remembered the day when he was so very ecstatic to teach me all about VH, and to really appreciate the music.

We both shared a love for music and lyrics... and oh how I miss those days and nights of just listening to music with him and dissecting lyrics.  To us there was no better way to spend a Saturday night than with wine and listening to music. We would listen to everything from Sinatra to Starship.
I think he's the reason why my music variety is so wide. We listened to it all.

When I had to get ready to go and do a few things out, I chose my VH tee...

There's always pieces of you in everything I do,
and reminders in my every day life that make me think of you!

Happy Birthday, America!

This Fourth was definitely different (due to COVID and everything being canceled),
but the love and excitement was still there from us regardless.
No matter what, we will always celebrate this great country and be thankful on her birthday.

Started the day off with surprising Kenley with a basket of Fourth goodies...

Then we got dressed in our Red, White, and Blue and went to the Coast to celebrate with family.

Ate cupcakes, specifically to wear the cute American-flag heart-shaped rings BEFORE going to our dinner reservation... because hey, it's America's Birthday and we can eat dessert first! :)

And then, we chose tattoos to wear. We were definitely the most Patriotic at dinner, for sure!

After dinner we stopped to get ice cream and drove around the beach town,
couldn't drive on the beach since the weather wasn't the best.
Then we went and watched fireworks in the neighborhood, from the neighbors,
which I have to say was a pretty spectacular show for it not being professionally done.

Also did sparklers, or well, Kenley and I watched as family did them because we LOVE them, but we just don't like doing them ourselves because they scare us... yet are so pretty.

It was still a fun-filled day celebrating our beloved country, just a bit different this year.

Started the day by going and getting COFFEE,
my Mom was with us for the day so grabbed her one too!
Ended up getting my drink wrong, but I went with it anyways... maybe Starbucks just knows better.

Came back home enjoyed the caffeine and opened my presents from Kenley...
I already knew about the one, because well uh, I ordered it for myself from her :)
Kate Spade was having an amazing sale and it was something I've had my eye on for a while, and with Mother's Day coming up I went for it... when it arrived I showed Kenley what she had gotten me... ha! She loved it, too. She also made a sweet card for me as well as a little book with pictures of her and I... and that's the stuff I really really cherish the MOST!

Had a few hours to just relax before we had to get ready to go and be taken out to dinner.
So we got dressed and headed to the coast.

Had dinner at a cute place by the water... we kept our eyes out for dolphins, but never saw any.
I had the BEST lobster mac & cheese of my life... seriously I think I'll have dreams of it.

After dinner we drove around to see some of the beach town... even drove on the beach.
Then we went and got ICE CREAM! I had a flashback of when I was a little girl and my grandfather took us to an exact place... the old fashioned shaped-like an ice cream. I haven't seen one, let alone been to one in so long, but it was a sweet memory that I got to relive and remember him by.

I had the brilliant idea to take our ice cream to go and enjoy on the beach, it was a windy day so we opted to just park on the beach and enjoy it with the windows down, so there was no sand included.

It was a nice, relaxing, and sweet day!

Hello, MAY!

Happy FRIDAY, and happy new month!

I cannot believe it's already May 1st, I feel like April went by really fast, unlike March.

Tonight Kenley and I are going to have one of our Friday Night Movie Nights.
Going to make her favorite macaroni and cheese and we are going to sit on the couch and watch whatever movie she wants, because last time I got to choose. We are pretty excited to have some comfort food and just lounge tonight after a pretty packed week with school for her. She had a lot of quizzes and tests, and a project in Art that was due today...
make a sculpture out of aluminum foil...

I think it came out cute, my favorite is the BIG bow and poofy skirt.

Here's to a relaxing and fun night tonight!

4-27 ♡

Picked up some of my favorites...
Chipotle.... Starbucks....
and came back home and had a little Movie Night watching my favorite film...

Breakfast At Tiffany's!

No cake this year, instead I opted for BIRTHDAY CAKE Pops!

While it was nothing fancy, it was still perfect...
it's always the little things in life I love (and appreciate) the most, and my sweet girl wrote me
the absolute sweetest card, that I'm going to cherish FOREVER!

I'll have to picture it and do it's very OWN post, because it definitely deserves it's own posting!

Sunday ♡

Venturing out on this gorgeous day!

Okay, so we didn't actually venture out too far...

BUT the line for the drive-thru was VERY venturous!

It was all worth it though, my coffee was one of the best I've had in a while
AND
Kenley's chocolate croissant, or "pain au chocolat" as the French say, was perfectly yummy...
according to her, so our little trip was a success, minus the long wait!

Happy SUNDAY!

Happy PICNIC Day!

Today is National PICNIC Day!

To celebrate we created a Picnic Playlist to play during our little picnic...

We listened to our music while eating hot dogs!
The pink water we had (pictured lower left) was such a pretty color out in the sunlight... we had to picture it! It reminded us of our pink coloring we did weeks before for our Easter eggs!

Happy Picnicking!

Earth Day, 2020

Happy Earth Day!

We are still doing Schooling at Home, and this week Kenley had a fun assignment for MUSIC that involved being outside, so I saved it for today to also celebrate EARTH DAY!

Her assignment was to pick a spot outside, sit and listen to sounds...
and then, pick 4 sounds and draw the things she heard.

So I made her a sheet with 4 spaces for the things she heard, gathered one of our cozy comforters, packed a bag of snacks and we picked an ideal spot outside AND thankfully it was the PERFECT weather, granted we waited until later in the day, but it was very breezy and absolutely perfection!

Her Four Things...

For 1, instead of drawing the bird she heard, we took a picture of it instead and I just used my little Sprocket (picture printer) to print it out and since it prints out on sticky film, she just stuck it on like a sticker! Also used our Instax camera to document our 'Earth Day Picnic' and just placed it on top while I took the picture to turn it in to her Music Teacher.
This was definitely a favorite from this week, and a reminder to enjoy the little things!

Oh, MONDAY!

Why are Monday's just the absolute worst?
Maybe not every one, but most are and today's was no exception.

It started off as any other Monday really... and then my phone went off... thought it was an
Amber Alert, but it was from EMERGENCY ALERTS, letting me know that there was a
"TORNADO WARNING in this area til 11:30 AM EDT. Take shelter now. Check media."

***We actually got THREE alerts altogether, because there were TWO different tornado warnings and one was extended from 11:30 to 12:00 PM

Frantic, I turn on the local news to see what they're saying
because it didn't seem too crazy outside, weather-wise. We've been having yucky rainy weather for the past 3-4 days, with really nasty thunderstorms, and this wasn't anything remotely close to what we have been having. I peeked out the window and noticed a neighbor walking his dog. No rain.

I turn it on and see our exact area highlighted and the meteorologist saying it is headed our way.
I get Kenley to get her things and we go into one of our big walk-in closets... and I grabbed Jovi, too!
I put them in, and quickly go grab some bottles of water, blankets etc.

Still having our news on, our cat who usually LOVES being in closets...
seriously I'm usually dragging him out of them,
BUT all of a sudden he cannot stand to be in it this morning,
UNDER a freaking TORNADO WATCH.
He manages to escape, so I have to go and grab him from the living room... while I scoop him up I managed to peek out the window, because I noticed how dark it must have gotten out to make our living room so dark as well. When I do, it seriously appeared to be midnight out... it had went completely DARK, when just 5-10 minutes before it was not. This scared me even more.

THANKFULLY
the tornado did not touch down in our area, but in other areas close to us it did, but again, thankfully it did not do any serious damage. There were lots of videos and pictures taken of it and we were able to see it and be grateful we did not see it in person!

As grateful as I am I'm still NO fan of 2020.

I'm scared to ask what's next?
Just when I thought the crazy was coming to an end we have to watch out for tornado's.

On a plus my Kate Spade order that I ordered forever ago arrived today!
I had seriously almost forgotten about it, so when I got the text alert it had been delivered it made this crazy Monday a bit sweeter!

Here's hoping that the rest of the week won't be so chaotic.

Made a Target Run today, and didn't even have to leave the car! I love their 'Drive Up' option, especially now with this dang virus still going around.
After getting our online order delivered to us, I decided to stop at Starbucks for a much needed COFFEE. As I was in line I noticed that the car in front of me had meaningful letters and numbers on their license plate that made me think of someone special I lost... and as I was taking a picture of it a VERY symbolic song came on, on the radio... my angel up above was definitely sending me a "Hello", and oh how much I adored it! I love when I get these signs.
I truly believe our loved ones send us signs to let us know they are thinking of us.

So that impromptu trip to grab a coffee ended up making my whole day.

{Easter 2020} ♡

Spent the morning at home, saw what goodies the Easter Bunny left

Watched an amazing sermon by my favorite, Dr. Charles Stanley...

Then we got dressed, nothing too fancy, and headed over to spend the day with family.
We colored eggs, hid and found eggs, and did a Bunny Scavenger Hunt for Miss Priss...

Easter is always one of my favorite holiday's to celebrate...
Holy Week is a hard week to get through, especially Friday and Saturday,
but oh how SUNDAY makes it all worth it!

Hoping Easter brought peace to you and yours!
